"GREEN" KLUBO LEGENDA

"Green" klubas Vilniuje padarė didelę įtaką Lietuvos (Pabaltijo) underground "pasidaryk pats" scenai. Šiandien yra aktyvistų, darančių koncertus ir iš esmės kuriančių sceną, Šalčininkuose, Kaune, Klaipėdoje, Šiauliuose ir kituose miestuose - 1999-2000-aisiais bene vienintele erdve įvairioms "pasidaryk pats" akcijoms buvo jau legendiniu tapęs "Green" klubas. Kai kurie jų ("Garage DIY" Šalčininkuose ir "Bendradarbei" Šiauliuose) gavo patalpas, kurios daugiau mažiau buvo įrengtos ir veikė pagal klubo Vilniuje pavyzdį. Tačiau svarbiausia, jog žmonės suprato, kad gali PADARYTI TAI PATYS - paprastas dalykas, anksčiau atrodęs neįmanomu. Labai smagu žinoti, kad esi ne vienišas - patys tai žinot!

Visi šie metai, praleisti besirūpinant "Green" klubu, padarė mums didžiulę įtaką. Išmokome daug naujų dalykų nuo statybos iki elektros įvedimo, nuo vadybos iki durininko, nuo garso "darymo" iki darbo už baro ir panašiai. Kartais buvo nelengva viską suvaldyti, tuo tarpu, kai miniai buvo px. Tačiau tikime, žmonės, ateinantys į klubą, kažko taip pat išmoksta. Bent jau jie gerai praleidžia laiką ir sugrįžta vėl ir vėl: girti, protingi, pikti, dvasingi, aktyvūs, vargani, nuoširdūs, įdomūs, nuobodūs... tačiau GYVI.

1997-aisiais to negalėjome net įsivaizduoti. Gavome šiukšlių pilną rūsį dideliame Stalino eros name, buvusiuose Geležinkeliečių rūmuose. Po kelių savaičių patalpa jau tiko repeticijoms. Netrukus ta pačiame pastate įsikūręs muzikinis klubas "Geležinis kablys" užsidarė. Po vieno retų koncertų didžiojoje scenoje (po kuria ir buvo būsimasis "Green" klubas), kilo gaisras ir pastatas buvo uždarytas dėl priešgaisrinės apsaugos taisyklių nesilaikymo. Tačiau žiurkės net nesiruošė palikti laivo.

Idėja atidaryti savo repeticijų patalpas visiems, kilo po to, kai apsilankėme "Fish Fabrique" klube Piteryje (Rusija) - klubas buvo įrengtas didžiuliame bute, aplink tvyrojo savotiška atmosfera "kaip namuose". Pirmasis pankroko klubas Lietuvoje "Bombiakas" buvo gerai, tačiau norėjosi kažko jaukesnio. Taigi, 1998 m. rugsėjo 11 d. pristatėme čia savo (t.y. dr.GREEN) pirmąjį įrašą "Ska'n'go" ir nuo to laiko idėja apie klubą vis kirbėjo galvoje - nuo 1999-ųjų galo prasidėjo gana intensyvi klubo veikla: nuolat tobulinome pagrindinę koncertų patalpą rūsyje, viršuje buvo atidaryta stalo teniso-stalo futbolo-batuto-poilsio zona, sekmadieniais pradėjo veikti vegan kavinė su maža diy leidinių biblioteka. Pradžioje stebėjomės, kur telpa 100 žmonių, bet paskui šis skaičius išaugo iki 300-400 žmonių. Kartais jautėmės tiesiog per maži kontroliuoti šį judėjimą, tačiau per visus šiuos metus nebuvo jokių didelių incidentų - policija domėjosi, kas čia vyksta tik kelis kartus ir tai iškviesta dėl kitko, su kaimynais taip pat nesipykom, viduje jau patys lankytojai sugebėjo "susikalbėti".

2002-ųjų gale policija įsiveržė į "Kablį" - to pačio pastato antrame aukšte įrengtą skvotą. Oficiali priežastis - narkotikai ir vogti daiktai, tačiau tikrasis tikslas - išvalyti pastatą nuo "neaiškių kompanijų". Buvo rasta tik keli litrai samagono. Naujieji pastato savininkai aiškiai pareiškė, kad nenori turėti reikalų su pareigūnais, tačiau visiems leido pasilikti pastate. Klube sklido gandai, kad policija ruošia reidą ir į klubą. Gerokai vėliau paaiškėjo, kad saugumo tarnybos gavo politinį užsakymą pasidomėti klubo veikla ir uždaryti jį "dėl narkotikų". Matyt tam pasitarnavo iki tol neįprastas politinis aktyvumas, kurio viršūne tapo 2001-ųjų gegužį surengta protesto akcija prieš NATO, sulaukusi didelio atgarsio. Nuo pat pradžių klube viskas vyko nelegaliai, todėl buvo nuspręsta jį uždaryti - išvengti didelių problemų ir išlaikyti repeticijų patalpą. Paskutinis koncertas "tik saviems" senajame "Green" klube įvyko 2003 m. rugsėjo 6 d. Tik penkių dienų pritrūko iki, kaip underground klubui solidaus, 5 metų jubiliejaus...

Nors tuo metu jau įrenginėjom naują "Green" klubą meno centro "Menų spaustuvė" patalpose, senoji patalpa vis dar buvo nepakeičiama erdvė repeticijoms. Kol susikaupusi energija 2003-ųjų gale virto gaisru - metalą pjaustę (vogę?) darbininkai, tikraja to žodžio prasme, juodai sudegino buvusį klubą. Visa aparatūra ir instrumentai virto apdegusių šiukšlių krūva, tačiau liko šilti daugelio žmonių atsiminimai ir įspūdžiai. Po šio įvykio iš pastato pasitraukė ne tik čia repetavusios grupės, bet ir skvoto gyventojai - namas neteko savo auros.

"Green" klubo veiklos metais Lietuva iš tranzitinės diy grupių ir informacijos srauto šalies tapo dar viena teritorija, kurioje sudygo diy daigai - Lietuva atsirado šios subkultūros žemėlapyje. Baigėsi daugelį metų trukusi izoliacija.

2003 m. lapkričio 6 d. daugiau nei 300 žmonių kartu grupėmis SC (Lietuva), Madame Germen (Ispanija) ir Remains Of The Day (JAV) dalyvavo naujojo "Green" klubo atidaryme. Prasidėjo naujas etapas. Kitoks, tačiau žadantis daug naujų patyrimų ir įspūdžių.

LEGEND OF THE GREEN CLUB

Place in Vilnius (LT), called "Green" club, made a huge influence on Lithuanian (and Baltic) underground d.i.y. scene. Today there are activists, booking gigs and building the scene in general, in Salcininkai, Kaunas, Siauliai, Klaipeda, other towns - in 1999-2000 the only place for various d.i.y. actions was already legendary "Green" club. Some of the activists (Salcininkai and Siauliai) got their own places, which one or another way were set up and run according to "Green" club. But the main thing, people realised they can DO IT themselves - simple thing that sounded quite impossible before. It is very nice to know that you're not alone - you know that!

Running "Green" club all these years made a huge influence on our thinking as well. We learnt a lot from building and electricity installation to sound engineering and taking care of a bar. Sometimes it was not easy to take care of everything, while the crowd didn't care at all. But we believe, people, who came to the club, learn something as well. At least they have very good time and coming back again and again: drunk, wise, angry, soulful, active, poor, honest, interesting, boring... but ALIVE.

Back in 1997 we couldn't even imagine about that. We've got a full-of-trash basement in a huge Stalin-era building, ex-culture house of railway workers. After few weeks it became suitable for rehearsals. Soon after a musical club "Kablys", located in the same building, went down. Later the whole building was closed for public activities because of poor fire security system - the reason was fire during a concert on a big stage ("Green" club is located right under it). But the rats did not leave the ship.

The idea to open our rehearsal space for public hit us after we've played at "Fish Fabrique" club in St.Petersburg (RUS) - the club situated in a huge flat and caring home-party atmosphere. The first punk club in Lithuania "Bombiakas", located in a bomb-shelter, was ok, but we wanted something more cosy. So we presented our (dr.GREEN band) first record "Ska'n'go" at "Green" club and since then the idea about the club stuck in our minds. From the end of 1999 the club began its intensive activity: the concert hall was improved all the time, upstairs table tennis-kicker-chill out hall and vegan cafe-info shop on Sundays were opened. First, we wondered where 100 crowd could fit, but later this number grew up to 300-400. Sometimes we felt just too small to control all this movement, but fortunately, there weren't big troubles all these years. Neither with neighbours, nor with the police.

In the end of 2002 police entered "Kablys" - a squat situated on the 2nd floor of the same building. The official reason was looking for drugs and stolen stuff, but the real one was to clean out the building. Nothing was found except some home made alcohol. New owners of the building said they don't want to have any troubles with officials, but let everybody to stay. There were rumours, the police gonna raid the club as well. Later, it was found out, that secret services received a political order to close the club "because of drugs". Politicians were in a fret because of before unseen political activity which was highlighted by the first anti NATO demonstration in May of 2001. All these years the venue was totally illegal, so it was decided to close it - avoid big troubles and save rehearsal place. The last gig only for "the family" happened in September 6, 2003. Only 5 days before 5 years anniversary...

Though we were in construction of a new "Green" club at the space of art-centre "Menu spaustuve", the old space was still irreversible place for various meetings and rehearsals. It was like that untill the collected energy converted into huge fire in the end of 2003 - workers above were cutting (stealing?) metal and sparks set the venue on fire. All the equipment and instruments were burnt down, but warm memories and feelings of many people remained. After this accident all the people (squatters, bands) left the building - the aura was lost.

Mainly because of "Green" club Lithuania from transit region of bands and information, became one more territory were the seeds of DIY came out - Lithuania appeared on the map of this subculture. The long-time isolation was broken.

November 6, 2003 more than 300 people with bands like SC (Lithuania), Madame Germaine (Spain) and Remains Of The Day (USA) gathered to celebrate the opening of the new "Green" club. A new stage began. Different, but promising new experience and impression.
